brain fog vegan diet

Brain fog vegan diet - Are you having brain fog, and maybe think it is related to how you eat? Let us explore this topic and get to some solutions!

This feeling of having a heavy head or not being able to think clearly, can be because of nutritional deficiencies, yes. But also lack of moving your body daily. If you sit all day long, that is not a very uncommon feeling, even just after a few hours.

So what do we need for us to feel mental clarity? A healthy plant-based vegan diet. So no junk and no "beyond-burger-style" diet. So rather than processed food, we need to eat the vegetables, the fruits, the quinoa, the oatmeal, the lentils... you know the deal. But it is very important actually.

vegan brain fog explained

If you don't eat whole foods as a vegan, lets say you have a coffee and a vegan croissant for breakfast, a plant-based burger and fries for lunch at a place close to your office, some crackers with vegan cream cheese and a diet soda as a snack and then in the evening at home you heat up a frozen vegan lasanga, then you might develop some deficiencies and brain fog can be the result.

You do need all the minerals and essential nutrients that a plant-based whole foods vegan diet has to offer, because of the fresh produce, the nuts and seeds and the beans as well as plant-based sea food - Japanese style.

Speaking of sea food, Omega 3 and DHA is very important for the brain (and eyes), so get yourself a algae supplement as soon as possible.

Brain Fog Vegan Diet - Interested in brain food For mental clarity?

What we know is that the brain needs good quality nutrients. Not sugar, not hydrogenated fats, not food colorings.

But what else is good to know? There must be more...

And yes there is! Let us explore some brain foods for kids and adults and then you can see if you could add them to your diet.

1. First of all, the brain needs us to drink enough water!

Without that, we can't think clearly.

Being tired often or having a headache or brain fog can be a sign that we to drink more.

After that there are a few foods that stand out when it comes to brain health:

2. Spinach is important because of it's zinc content. The same goes with pumpkin seeds and pine nuts!

3. Celery is packed with for example calcium, phosphorus and vitamin A. It is also has protective properties that are important for our brain.

4. Rosemary is good for the memory, so at least a couple of times a week you could add some fresh rosemary to the meals you make at home.

5. Walnuts are full of ALA, which the body can turn into very healthy fats that the brain needs.

Always keep some at home, somewhere where you and you kids can easily reach for them.

When I was little, my sister and I used to eat fresh walnuts that had fallen from the big trees behind our school, they tasted so good.

We jumped on them so they would open.

6. Blueberries are also great, especially for concentration!

7. Also don't forget about certain spices, most spioces or herbs have some surprising benefits, but the spices cumin and cinnamon stimulate our brain's cells and help repair broken DNA.

8. Plant-based sea food and especially spirulina has been shown to be very beneficial for this precious organ. It is called "neuroprotective" by a researcher in Florida named Dr. Paula Bickford.

If you experience brain fog, think about this. The brain uses a lot of the vitamins, minerals, water and especially a big part of the fat that we eat.

It needs all of that to function properly, and to make new cells.

So we need to make sure actually have all of those good foods we often buy, in attempt to start having them. We should have some daily, and not kust keep them in the pantry or let everything go bad in the fridge. I have made a habit of taking a handful of greens or spinach every time I open the fridge. Makes me feel less guilty about maybe not always having time to make a salad every day.

Unless we feel a memory problem creeping on after a period of too much stress, then we need to focus on specific foods and nutrient to fix it, and we also need to slow down our lifestyle, because stress causes memory and concentration problems - and a lot more.

The way we deal with stress is something that is passed down from generation to generation, and some doctors now say that this can be a reason why some children get the same health issues as their parents when they grow up, even if they are adopted and don't have the same genes. And now doctors are also talking about the gut a lot and how it is created by what we eat, and it makes sense, biological relatives or not, if people eat the same food, they will have a very similar composition of gut bacteria.

Conclusion

Please remember to lead a healthy lifestyle by getting enough exercise and fresh air every day. Eat healthy and don't smoke.

According to the Harvard Medical School getting enough sleep should also be something to make a habit of.

To improve sleep quality, the first thing you could do each morning is to go outside for a few minutes. This has been proven to be great for a good nights sleep, to get out in daylight quite soon after you wake up.

Did you know? Studies have also shown that children with an active lifestyle do better in school, because their memory center in the brain grows during exercise. Same thing with the fetus when you are pregnant, it hugely benefits from you being more active than sedentary.
